I’ve had the privilege of staying in many five-star luxury hotels over the years, from the best hotel in Bangkok to the Ritz in Seoul, the Go Hotel in London, and the St. Regis in New York. Often, these stays were part of business travel, with expenses covered by major companies.
During my stays in these grand hotels, in almost every case, when I visited the concierge desk and asked for restaurant recommendations, the response was to dine in the hotel’s own restaurant, with little insight into local dining options.
This often left me feeling that their local knowledge was lacking, or to put it another way, “out to lunch”
